On the afternoon of 6th June, 1982, the committee stands at the brink of a crisis that shall bring about paradigm shifts within its hallowed halls, or annihilate the very foundations of Arab unity. Here, delegates shall find themselves at the eye of the storm, as they attempt to keep the dying embers of diplomacy burning and to bring to an end the issue that has plagued the Muslim people for nearly sixty years.
As the Land of the Cedars is steadily torn apart by internal strife, as bombs rain down on cities, and as every bloody massacre is overshadowed by the next, a monumental escalation unfolds in one of the most protracted and cataclysmic conflicts the Levant has ever seen.
Tempests break upon the southern frontier, and Israeli troops surge across the border into Lebanese territory, while warplanes eclipse the skies above Tyre. Tel Aviv speaks of an operation to silence the guns that have long menaced its Galilean settlements, yet the plumes of smoke already billowing from the south betray an undertaking of far graver ambition than a mere reprisal.
What began as skirmishing along a tense border now threatens to metastasize into a full-scale reckoning, one whose culmination none can yet foresee. The world watches with apprehension, and every decision carries the shadow of irrevocable consequences. Welcome to the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, where mere words alone cannot hold back a crisis already in motion, and where you, the delegates, must act with the urgency and resolve this moment demands.
"Life is perspective, and my perspective may differ from yours." ~Kendrick Lamar
Honourable delegates,
That very truth, is what lies at the heart of our gathering in this committee. As we convene this session of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, we do so as representatives of nations with differing interests, alliances, and visions for the region. We may not agree on the causes of the crisis, nor on the course it should take. However, there is one reality that admits no debate: the immense human and geopolitical devastation unfolding across the Levant.
The clock has stopped on the 6th of June, 1982 and the ground in southern Lebanon is actively shaking beneath the treads of an invading force. The sovereign borders of a brother nation have just been violently breached, and the fragile tapestry of the region threatens to unravel entirely under the weight of this unprecedented military aggression. We are standing at the absolute precipice of a geopolitical and humanitarian catastrophe that will define our generation.
Taking into consideration the crisis at hand, the freeze date for this committee is 6th June 1982, 2:00 p.m. Your position paper deadline is 11:59 pm on 26th July, 2026. We shall be accepting a maximum of 2 pre-committee communiques. The deadline for which is 11:59 pm on 30th July, 2026.
The committee will be assisted by the Rapporteur, Aarav Daga. He is a 10th grader whom you shall find involved in almost every school event. He has a knack for Business fests and MUNs and is proficiently good at it. However, he still has nightmares of Bosco MUN 2025.
The Vice Chairperson for the committee shall be Srijan Polley. He is the school Vice Prefect and is known for his academic excellence, disciplined work ethic, and meticulous approach to every responsibility. As Vice Chair, his composure and attention to detail promise the smooth functioning of the committee.
We, Ritankar Mondal and Devesh Bazaz, have the privilege of serving as the Chairpersons of this committee and look forward to ensuring that it is an enriching, engaging, and memorable experience for each one of you.
As your Chairpersons, let us apprise you that the true measure of a delegate in this committee will not be determined by who speaks the loudest, but by who adapts the quickest. In a committee where every paperwork can reshape the course of events, the ability to think critically, respond decisively, and remain composed under pressure will be what separates the exceptional from the ordinary.
The committee shall be fast-paced and dynamic and the real benchmark for the Executive Board is not just handing out points for effort; it's adherence to your foreign policy and how creative you can get with your paperwork. We will reward rigour and quality over sheer quantity, though truthfully, we're hoping every single one of you brings us both.
So delegates, the time for passive observation has evaporated and the floor is now yours to act before the ashes of Lebanon are scattered to the winds. Debate boldly, lobby wisely, and remember that solving any crisis starts by making a single decision, to either persist or fall apart and, as for all of you, now is the time to make that decision. Welcome to the Organisation of the Islamic Conference at Bosco MUN 2026.
Regards,
Ritankar Mondal and Devesh Bazaz,
Chairpersons of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference,
The Eleventh Secretariat,
Bosco MUN 2026.
