Agenda: Deliberation on the Ems Dispatch crisis and the situation in Alsace-Lorraine
Freeze Date: 30th July, 1870

About the Committee

It is July 30th, 1870.

France has declared war on Prussia, and armies have mobilized along the borders. The stage is set for a historic clash, but a swift and decisive victory is far from guaranteed.

The mob, inflamed by patriotic fervor and incensed by the humiliation inflicted through the Ems Dispatch, clamors for nothing less than total victory. But inside the war cabinet, unity is a fragile illusion. High-ranking commanders demand absolute control over operations, ministers seek to advance their hidden agendas, and the shadow of espionage looms large. Trust no one blindly; you are surrounded not only by loyal allies, but also by political opportunists and hidden moles ready to rewrite your orders.

As you step into this chaotic war room, you must answer: will your strategies successfully forge a supreme German empire, or will internal betrayal reduce the nation to ashes? The fate of Prussia, and indeed the entire North German Confederation, rests in your hands.

Face defeat today, and history will forever remember this war not as the birth of a German Empire, but as the moment Prussia's ambitions died. The clock is ticking. The armies await your command. The future of Europe will be decided by the choices you make within these walls.

So welcome delegates, to the crucible of blood and iron. Welcome, to Wilhelm's War Cabinet.

Chairpersons' Address

Greetings delegates,

It is with immense pleasure and heartfelt warmth that we extend a sincere welcome to each and every one of you to what can undoubtedly be deemed as one of the most dynamic and challenging committees in this edition of Bosco Model United Nations: Wilhelm’s War Cabinet.

As we gather here, it is necessary to understand the importance of the situation. It is jetzt oder nie for the North German Confederation. We stand at the crossroads of one of the defining moments of European history. From diplomacy to war, this committee encompasses every aspect of the North German Confederation. Will Prussia finally unite Germany, or will Germany remain in disunity? It is all up to you, delegates, to decide Prussia’s future.

Although the study guide provides a comprehensive understanding of the agenda, we strongly advise all of you to conduct further, more in-depth research. Expect a highly dynamic and fast-paced committee, where lobbying, rhetoric, and paperwork are equally as important. This committee will test your ability to stay calm under pressure and make effective decisions. Everyone "supports" the war, but most have hidden agendas. A sound understanding of your policy and the complex motivations of your allotment are essential. The freeze date for this committee will be the 30th of July, 1870. You may reach out to us for any questions, concerns, or inquiries you may have. You can contact us through the designated Gmail address, or personally connect with any of us.

The committee will be assisted by the Rapporteur, Dhruv Arora, the Assistant Captain of Savio House at Don Bosco Park Circus. Dhruv has perfected the art of networking, always leaving people with a new "connection", whether that's remarkable social skills or an usually unsuccessful matchmaking career. A devoted admirer of Deepawali, he seems determined to keep every corner glowing with lights, diyas, candles, and firecrackers, a spirit sure to carry into the committee. But beneath the innocence lies a dependable leader, whose wit, confidence, and approachable nature make him a valued member of the executive board.

To help in presiding over this committee we shall be assisted by our Vice-Chairperson Ushnik Dan, an eleventh grader. A die-hard Barca fan and a cinephile at heart, Ushnik is that one guy who stays awake all night and sleeps during the day. He also has an obsession for "niche" underground metal bands, and claims to have the best music taste in his batch (note the word "claims"). A skilled researcher with a penchant for paperwork, his presence will make this committee a lot more dynamic.

Rahil is a twelfth-grader with a deep interest in grilling, be it barbeque or delegates. He is one of the most approachable members of the executive board. Rahil is known for giving sharp and decisive speeches that leave delegates shaking in their positions. Since the day he began his MUN career, Rahil has always progressed and his presence in the committee will definitely make it more intense and unique.

Nikunj S. Agarwal is a twelfth-grader currently pursuing commerce stream. He has an avid interest in business and diplomacy aiming to pursue a career in entrepreneurship and becoming the living embodiment of John D. Rockefeller. He has a diversified portfolio from being Treasurer for the Quiz Group, active business team member, and one of the most disruptive MUN team members of our school. From the most innovative paperworks and rhetorics to the most posterizing speeches made by this Chairperson, be prepared for a committee where you will get no rest.

So, good luck, delegates. We hope to make sure that the eleventh edition of Bosco Model United Nations is a memorable one for you.

Regards,
Nikunj S. Agarwal & Rahil H. Khan,
Co-Chairpersons of Wilhelm’s War Cabinet,
The Eleventh Secretariat,
